Helsinki on Suomen pääkaupunki. Lauantaiaamuna Aino kävelee Kauppatorille. Torin lähellä hän näkee Presidentinlinnan, joka on lähellä Pohjoisesplanadia ja Mariankatua. Aino ostaa kahvin ja katsoo merta. Sitten hän menee lautalla Suomenlinnaan.

Helsinki is Finland’s capital. On Saturday morning, Aino walks to Market Square. Near the square she sees the Presidential Palace, which is close to Pohjoisesplanadi and Mariankatu. Aino buys coffee and looks at the sea. Then she takes a ferry to Suomenlinna.

Suomenlinna on merilinnoitus ja Unescon maailmanperintökohde. Aino kävelee vanhojen rakennusten ja muurien vieressä. Hän käy museossa ja kuuntelee opastusta englanniksi. Iltapäivällä hän palaa keskustaan. Hän avaa puhelimesta Helsingin tapahtumakalenterin ja etsii illalle näyttelyä tai konserttia.

Suomenlinna is a sea fortress and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aino walks beside old buildings and walls. She visits a museum and listens to a guided talk in English. In the afternoon, she returns to the city centre. On her phone, she opens Helsinki’s event calendar and looks for an exhibition or concert for the evening.

Kesäkuun alussa Aino menee myös Haagaan. Alppiruusupuistossa kukkii satoja alppiruusuja ja atsaleoita. Puistossa on polkuja ja pitkospuut, joten siellä on helppo kävellä. Aino ottaa kuvan, mutta ei mene istutusalueelle. Päivän lopussa hän sanoo: “Helsingissä on aina jotain uutta nähtävää.”

At the beginning of June, Aino also goes to Haaga. Hundreds of rhododendrons and azaleas bloom in Rhododendron Park. The park has paths and duckboards, so it is easy to walk there. Aino takes a photo, but she does not enter the planting areas. At the end of the day, she says: “There is always something new to see in Helsinki.”
